Stacking cups are a classic toy every child probably has...here are a few ways we played with them recently. I always love toys that offer lots of different games.
Most days, after Stella's nap, we all (me, Stella and Sawyer) have playtime (while feeding Sawyer) in Stella's room. That's a lot of info in one sentence! :) A couple of days ago, Stella chose her stacking/nesting cups to play with. She's had these for a loooonnnnggg time, but what she does with them has changed over time. After I saw what she was doing, I grabbed my camera and thought "perfect for the teaching blog! yay!"
Here she is lining them up and pointing to the smallest cup...then she pointed to the "biggest of all", as Mickey Mouse would say.
hopping game..
the tower...with a sweet smile Mommy didn't even have to ask for :)
comparing towers by height...then knocking them down...
make it easy: talk about colors while playing, stack them up, then knock them down, stack them as tall as you can, then knock them down again :)
make it hard: compare towers, discuss towers using words like tallest, shortest...discuss positional words: point to the one on the bottom, which color is on the top? point and count each block
Happy Learning :)
Do you have a toy you do lots with?
